Where I Stand

Stronger Schools, Brighter Futures

Delaware spends near the top in the nation per student, but our reading and math results sit near the bottom. That's not a funding problem — it's an accountability problem. I'll fight to move dollars out of administration and into the classroom, and to give parents plain, public data on how their schools are actually performing.

Safe Communities, Secure Neighborhoods

Kent and Sussex have grown faster than the police, fire, and EMS resources meant to protect them. Our volunteer fire companies are covering more ground with fewer people, and our police agencies are losing recruits to neighboring states. I'll back competitive pay and recruitment for law enforcement, real support for our volunteer responders, and consequences that match the crime.

Responsible Spending, Accountable Government

Delaware doesn't have a revenue problem — it has a spending problem. Our largest revenue source is no longer growing, but state spending keeps climbing, and Dover has papered over the gap instead of fixing it. I'll vote for budgets that live within the state's means and against locking taxpayers into obligations they can never renegotiate.

Meet Janyce

Janyce Ann Gill Colmery is a lifelong Delawarean, small-business professional, and the 2026 Republican nominee for the 19th District seat in the Delaware House of Representatives.

She spent 25 years in healthcare as a respiratory therapist — a career that taught her advocacy and problem-solving, and instilled the belief that people deserve someone in their corner. She now brings that same care and integrity to her work as a real estate professional with Compass, helping families across New Castle County through one of life's biggest transitions.

She was married to the late Wallace L. “Wally” Colmery Jr., a New Castle County police officer who retired in 1998 after 24 years on the force. Life as a police wife shaped how she sees public safety — not as a talking point, but as the reality her family lived with every shift. She remains a dedicated supporter of law enforcement and veterans, a champion for animal welfare, and a lover of nature and the arts.

Her commitment to public service began close to home. In 2021 she ran for the Red Clay Consolidated School Board, campaigning for stronger schools and better outcomes for local students — the same focus she brings to her run for the 19th District.

A lifelong Delawarean living in Pike Creek, Janyce loves sharing the beauty of her home state with others.
